PEGs and Parabens are increasingly on ingredient watch lists. For good reason:

PEGs – Polyethylene glycol:

PEGs' are chemical compounds, used as emollients and emulsifiers – chemical skin softeners. Polyethylene is the most common form of plastic and when combined with glycol, it makes a gluey mixture. PEG's have an enhanced penetration effect. They open the pores of the skin, enabling environmental toxins to more easily enter your body's system, thus leave you more vulnerable to bacteria.

PEG's are found in the vast majority of skincare and personal care products. Why do we stay away from PEGs? -- When you're on an airplane, the last thing you want, is enhanced penetration, because the extremely low humidity onboard limits your body's normal defense capabilities. Coupled with the re-circulated air, you are at an increased risk to contract colds and the like. Add PEGs and you find yourself even more exposed to environmental toxins.

Remember, the skin is your largest organ. So, in an airplane environment , you want to avoid anything that brings even more unwanted bacteria into your system.

PEGs are also known to cause allergic reaction to skin with sun exposure. So, for travelers: Unless you want to find yourself on business or the beach with "Mallorca acne", stay clear of products with PEGs.

Even if you are not on an airplane, there is plenty of reasons of why we do not use PEGs. They upset your skin's natural moisture balance, increase skin aging and are rarely pure. Often, they contain toxic impurities as lead, cadmium, iron, nickel or arsenic. -- Many impurities are linked to cancer. So: stay away from products that contain PEGs, particularly when flying or traveling.

Very few companies worldwide make the extra effort to deliver products free of PEGs. We do.

Parabens are a group of synthetic, cheap preservatives and therefore found in most cosmetic and skincare products. They are commonly found at the bottom of the ingredient listing as e.g. methylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben.
Parabens are known to cause irritations to sensitive skin. Parabens were also found to cause heart tissue problems over an extended time period. They are suspected to influence breast cancer and are known to disrupt and influence the hormonal system. They can affect fetal development.

We pride ourselves with highly concentrated, excellent ingredient combinations that -- at the same time -- are based on very gentle product formulas. We go through the ingredient list and try to keep preservation at an absolute minimum. For that, we take into account higher product cost, repeated testing and formula changes to offer products with healing capabilities for all of our customers, including those, with most sensitive skin. Since most of our staff and advisers have exremely sensitive skin, too, we really look for the 'good stuff' to put in.
